Top Wellness Trends Of 2019 - Pt 2

 

This year many people are on the wave of becoming the best version of their self and I’m here for it. This includes hard work and dedication for your outer and inner self. Physical and mental. Spiritual and emotional. I’ve researched the top ways people are managing to take care of their self and live their best life by all means. Previously I shared with you the top 5 trends of 2019, now take a look at the runner ups.

1. JUICING

Juicing is a benefit to you whether you want to lose weight or simply gain more energy. The suggested serving for fruit and vegetable intake is at least 400 grams per day, or five servings of 80 grams. How often do we fit our fruits & veggies into our diet? This is the perfect way to make sure you’re getting the vitamins and minerals your body needs in a super concentrated form.

This trend is on the rise and i’m here for it and looking forward to trying it out. I purchased the Hamilton Beach Juicer and I’m ready to test it out! Leave me some of your favorite juicing recipes in the comments below!

 

2. Intermittent Fasting

According to Wikipedia Intermittent fasting is an umbrella term for various eating diet plans that cycle between a period of fasting and non-fasting over a defined period. Intermittent fasting is under preliminary research to assess if it can produce weight loss comparable to long-term calorie restriction .

I know a few people who have seen success in weight loss from simply fasting. There are different types of intermittent fasting. The 16/8 Method: Fast for 16 hours each day. The 5:2 Diet: Fast for 2 days per week. Eat-Stop-Eat: Do a 24-hour fast, once or twice a week. Alternate-Day Fasting: Fast every other day. The Warrior Diet: Fast during the day, eat a huge meal at night. And The Spontaneous Meal Skipping: Skip meals when convenient.

Each of these fasts have their own benefits. I’ve tried the 16/8 method and feel my body adjusted very quickly. Keep in mind, while you’re fasting make sure you are eating healthy. If you binge on unhealthy foods during the time you’re off the fast then fasting won’t do you any good.

 

3. Self Care

Self care is key to living a balanced life. I’m so excited at the rise of women & men practicing self care. There are many ways to practice and its imperative to your mind, body & soul that you take the time out to care for you.

Self care produces positive feelings which in result improves confidence, self-esteem and self-awareness. My favorite self care act is blogging. It allows me to journal where I’m at in my life and reflect on my growth while educating others on what I’ve learned in the process.

Here are some ways you can practice self care:

  • Get rest - a full night of sleep.

  • Pamper yourself - spa dates are my favorite.

  • Take a floral bath - or any hot bath for that matter.

  • Take a day off - from work or from the home life.

  • Light a candle - good scents make everything better.

  • Buy a new outfit - get cute and feel yaself.

 

4. NATURAL FOOD STORES

Natural food stores are on the rise and I love the selection we have. Health and wellness stores like Earth Fare, Whole Foods Market, Trader Joe’s, Natur-Tyme, and Wegmans are the go-to if you’re looking for health conscious options.

These stores primarily sell health foods, organic foods, local produce, and often nutritional supplements.

Three things you will be sure to get at a natural food store are quality, expertise, and local business. Since moving to Charlotte, NC my favorite natural food store is Earth Fare - sis, it’s everything! If you have one in your town or pass by one make sure you stop in, you won’t regret it.

 

5. SOULFUL FITNESS

Mindfulness is essential to your overall health and wellness. One way I found to practice mindfulness in an effective way is meditation. I myself have seen a rise in the practice of meditation and I highly encourage it for those who are looking to gain clarity and a sense of self awareness.

Mediation is gaining it’s popularity for many reasons. It helps you control stress and pain, both acute and chronic. Improves mental focus and creativity. Redirects your focus on the positive. And improves your mental health.

My experience meditating has definitely generated a better sense of awareness. Not just of self, but of the entire world around me. My vision is clear, my focus is set and I know exactly what my future self will look like. The best part of meditating is that you are visualizing your self how the inner-you chooses to see. Not how the world views you, not how your family views you, not even how you see yourself in the mirror. It’s about who you are inside.
