What is guided meditation?

Guided meditation is a practice designed to create a relaxed state of mind led by a yoga instructor, spiritual guide, or a voice recording. It's purpose is to help you become comfortable in order to visualize and manifest in certain aspects of your life.

Is it religious?

Meditation derives from New Age or Eastern religious practices, but it's actually an important part of many religions. The Torah and the Bible both speak of meditating on the scriptures.

In the Eastern religions, they focus on meditating to reach enlightenment. While using meditation to enhance your personal spirituality is ideal, it is not necessary to have a religious background to enjoy the benefits of a meditation practice.

Benefits of guided meditation

The main benefits of mediation are a reduced stress life, increased self awareness and a sense of calm, peace and balance. Guided meditation is ideal for beginners because you do not need to know how to meditate to start. You only need to listen and give your undivided attention. The guide walks you through the steps of clearing your mind, controlling your breath and focusing on your subconscious mind.

The subconscious mind is connected to many different systems that are essential to keeping you alive including the cardiovascular, endocrine gland, respiratory, nervous, immune, circulatory, digestive, lymphatic, muscular, skeletal, reproductive and urinary systems. Think about it. When was the last time you had to tell your heart to beat? That is all controlled by your subconscious mind.

5 Ways Guided Meditation Builds Creativity

  1. Reduces stress and allows you to think clearly.

When stress piles up it causes you to shut down. Your mind is every where but where you want it to be. With guided meditation it helps to reduce your stress level in order to clear your mind. Visualize it as a path being blocked and trying to walk through verses it being cleaned up and walking through freely.

  2. Opens your mind to new ideas.

Similar to brainstorming and daydreaming, your subconscious mind can put new ideas into your head that you normally wouldn't think of yourself. Your meditation guide will help you connect with your subconscious mind in order to bring light to creative ideas outside your normal way of thinking.

  3. Creates awareness

Meditation creates a sense of self awareness. After meditating with a guide even for just a few minutes you will be more aware of what you want out of life and create have that tunnel vision you need to get there.

  4. Plants a seed

Guided meditation helps you to plant a seed in your mind on something you want to manifest in your life. Visualizing yourself creating something new or enhancing your life will allow you to take the necessary steps to ensure it really happens.

  5. Find your purpose

Meditation helps strengthen your connection with your inner-self and helps you discover your higher purpose in life. When you meditate with a guide, they lead you to discover your truth and be more creative.

Meditation itself is considered a "practice" specifically because it improves with practice. The more you practice the better it gets and the stronger your connection is with your subconscious mind. It's like an exercise for your brain. If your at the beginning stage or the advanced, guided mediation is beneficial to everyone.
